The Reception children absolutely loved going to the Year 5 Charity Funfair to raise money for CAFOD. It was such a well organised event with a great range of activities. The children were lucky to have such kind and helpful older children who were willing to look after the reception classes and show them what to do. We would like to say a huge thank you to the teachers and children for this fantastic event.
In Maths we have been learning how to use simple time language and record short periods of time. We held our own 'Spring Olympics' where the bunnies and the lambs competed in different sports tasks to see who was the quickest. The children used stop watches to time their friends and recorded the scores on the whiteboard. It was a very active event!
In reception we are growing our own Triops. Triops are small freshwater shrimp that grow from tiny eggs. They have been around for over 220 million years! So they've seen giant dinosaurs like T-Rex and Stegosaurus come and go. They were swimming in pools when giant mammals like the wooly mammoth roamed the Earth. When our ancestors lived in trees, there the Triops were in their pool, swimming and eating. Today they are known as the oldest living species of animal in the World. No wonder they're often called or living fossils! They are very unusual creatures and we can't wait to watch as they change over time!
