Today we break up, what a fabulous half term it's been. We have finished our topic on Dinosaurs and we have also been learning about Valentines day, celebrating this by making our own Valentines cards and colouring them in to give to our loved ones.
Well done Reception for all your hard work...keep it up next term!
This week the children have been embracing all things Chinese in celebration of the Chinese Year of the Pig.
From making dragon masks and building chinese houses - to writing all about why the Chinese name the signs of the zodiac after animals - to developing culinary skills making stir fries and noodles in our new Chinese restaurant and eating them using 'chopsticks' - to moving like a dragon and learning new vocabulary to describe how it moves - to having a Chinese food tasting experience and describing what it looks like and how it tastes! AND if that wasn't enough they have been learning about the mythical creature Nian and what he is scared of.
WOW! what a fantastic busy week. WELL DONE RECEPTION!
Kung Hei Fat Choi to everyone!
This week the children have been busy learning that they are not likely to see a dinosaur walking in Platt Fields park or being taken for a walk down their own street and this is because dinosaurs are EXTINCT!! We have been learning all about 3 dinosaur extinction theorie .... volcanoes erupting, meteors crashing into the earth and the ice age. They have been busy role playing as palaentologists digging for fossils, using pastels to draw colourful, erupting volcanoes and writing about each theory using their fantastic phonics. Well done reception.
