The children have had a fantastic time at Dunham Massey today. They collected leaves, bark, moss and acorns - all that they could find to bring back to school for our investigation area in class. They saw all the different flowers and folliage in the Winter garden, describing the size of the leaves and trees as huge, massive and gigantic and describing the smells as beautiful! During our walk we were also lucky enough to see the deer in the park! The children also made bark rubbings and explored mole hills and deep dark burrows wondering which wookland creatures may live there! We all thoroughly enjoyed our outdoor picnic watching the squirrels eating their lunch too! Well done everyone for using your awesome autumn investigation skills!
The children have had a great busy week. They have been using their maths skills by counting acorns, conkers and hedgehogs and are able to say the number that is one less by taking away!
They are learning all about autumn in preparation for the trip to Dunham Massey on Monday. Well done everyone for a busy week learning so much!
This week the children have been practising their writing skills during phonics lessons writing letters and in maths writing numbers -the number that is one more than a given number! In phonics we have been learning all about digraphs which is 2 letters that make one sound - SS as in fuss and FF as in Biff.
After all that hard work, inspired by our story Percy the park keeper - After the storm, it's nice to relax in Percy's hut, thinking how they can help the woodland animals build a new home!
Well done everyone.
