This week the children in reception have been learning how to compare different capacities in maths. They have been learning new vocabulary to describe if a cup is full, half full or empty .
The cups were filled with 'dinosaur bones' and the children also had to decide whether their cup had more or less in than their friends.
The children have been very busy creating a volcano as the centre piece of a wall display to showcase their fantastic writing skills . We have been reading Dinosaur Stomp and learning about verbs - words to describe actions - to describe how a dinosaur moves. They have been role playing - stomping, charging , swishing, and gliding as dinosaurs. They then wrote about their own dinosaur..."Down in the jungle, what will a see? I see a t-rex leaping at me!"
The children in Reception this week have proved to be incredibly creative in designing and decorating their own stegasaurus. Using a paper plate for the body and coloured triangular card for the plates "that change to red when they are angry," they made a 3d dinosaur that could stand up on legs!
Not content with just using the craft supplies, one imaginative child made a diplodocus using various 2d plastic shapes on the floor!
