The children in reception are always busy practising their phonics and putting these skills new skills to good use. We have been reading and writing captions in the writing area and learning to read the days of the week. Children are also writing with different purposes in mind such as writing birthday cards for their mum or using their phonics skills to label a spider picture! These writing opportunities are not just limited to indoors but can be found all around or classroom and outside from clip boards, chalk boards - writing with chalk and water! Well done Reception - keep it up!
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
The children this week have been learning about Remembrance day and what the poppy signifies - remembering all those who have died and suffered whilst keeping us all safe from harm. They made their own poppies and said prayers of remebrance in class and in a whole school service.
The children have this week been learning about All Saints day. After looking at pictures and learning about different Saints they made their own prayer cards for a Saint they wanted to pray for. The children also said the Eternal Rest and prayed for all the people we knew who have died.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.
