Today was very special and began our remembrance weekend in memory of the soldiers who have fought in wars and especially in World War One. We made our beautiful poppies which went on display at school today and watched a very solemn, striking performance by year six to remember those who have fallen. Year three have been very grown-up today and acted very respectfully.
Today was also very special because it marked the end of a fortnight of learning about all things poetry! The entire class did a fantastic job for their performance!
In our first week back after half term, we have got straight back into a busy week!
In English, all of 3LP are working hard on learning their poem for our big poetry recital next Friday called 'The Tale of Custard the Dragon'.
The children have been really enthusiastic so far and I can't wait to see the final product in a few days!
In maths, we have begun using bar models to show our subtraction methods. This helps the children to see which part is missing from the equation and will assist them in finding the solution.
We have also been preparing for Remembrance Day to remember and pray for the soldiers who fought for our country in World War One by making our own unique poppies out of clay. The children loved getting their hands dirty and have some brilliant sculpting skills!
Here are the children carving out their petals.
What a fantastic half term we have had in year three. All of the children have worked very hard and are beginning to make great progress in their learning.
Have a fantastic half term year 3 and I look forward to seeing you for our second Autumn term!
