The day had arrived and Class 10 were nervously excited. A chance to play football as part of a lesson, they were brimming with enthusiasm!
All the build up was in place and a ripple of excitement greeted Mr Tunney's arrival with a large, white bag that contained the team's jerseys.
They donned their kit, pom-poms and with iPads at the ready, stepped out into the bright June sunshine.
After a speech from the coaches, we began with a tough game with eventual winners Class 8. The match was played in a good spirit and at a high tempo. Unfortunately, we came in at half time a few goals down.
Some rousing words from the coaches saw us hit the ground running in the second half, getting a few goals back in the process. However, it wasn't enough to stop a very good C8 team!
After this, we took on Class 7 in a 3rd place play off game. This game was closer, and our players were putting in a massive effort. Although they gave 100%, Class 7 just edged the game.
The whole class were really enthusiastic about this task and deserve great praise for the work they have done. Take a look at some photos from the game...
Are you enjoying the World Cup? I know Class 10 are!
As part of the celebrations we have been getting ready for a big game against Year 3.
Each class was allocated a country and we got Mexico. The class had a number of different roles: Players, coaches, TV pundits, journalists, water carriers and cheerleaders.
The children worked hard during the build up to the game and displayed their talents in a number of ways.
Players worked hard on tactics, coaches set about writing an inspiring speech for the day of the game, TV pundits discussed the teams' chances while the water carriers busily discussed the importance of staying hydrated. Our cheerleaders perfected their routines as our journalists eagerly produced a match programme!
