We felt like real scientists in Loreto's science labs on Tuesday!
We really enjoyed learning about colour and using all the science equipment (and non-scientific resources too like the Skittles!) to learn that white and black are actually made up of all the colours of the rainbow!
There were a lot of 'WOW' moments that really made us see colour differently!
We also saw how different animals see things! Not like we humans at all!
We have explored sound in our Science lessons and investigated how to change the pitch: the highness and lowness of a sound!
We were splashed by the sound vibrations that travelled through a tuning fork placed in a cup of water! The faster the vibrations through the tuning fork, the higher the pitch!
We plucked our way to understanding that a thinner elastic band will produce a high pitch sound compared than a thicker band that created a lower sound!
We made squeaking straws to see which length of straw made the highest squeak! The shorter straw made the highest pitch and the longer straw made the lower sound.
Tomorrow we are investigating how sound travels and how to muffle those annoying sounds such as a ringing alarm clock!
Ask Year 4 for the results on Friday!
