Today we've been amazed at the large scale sculptures on show at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park!
We had a tour of the park by our expert tour guide exploring the human figure. We compared realist and abstract representations!
We sketched and discussed our ideas about the sculptures and enjoyed being in the country surroundings of the park!
In the afternoon we worked collaboratively in groups to make our own sculptures out of pipes, tyres, shaped logs, poles and lots more 'found' objects!
We were very creative and loved our team-building sculpture experience!
This is a FAB day out for all the family with so much to do and see... maybe your child could be the tour guide for you in the Summer holidays!? :-)
This week the children have transformed themselves into art teachers and passed on their creative skills to other children from another class.
Year 4A taught Year 3M how to make 'squiggly clay pots' and ice-lollies.
Then Year 3 taught us how to weave.
We had a great time! We will be showcasing our art work in the school's Art Gallery Exhibition after school on Thursday 6th July in the hall. The theme for the exhibition is 'Summertime!'
We hope to see you there so we can show off our creative talents!
Last week we visited our cosmopolitan Manchester City Centre to compare it to the village of Castleton!
We saw so many amazing buildings and the people of Manchester were extremely friendly as we conducted our research about what they love about their city!
We LOVE our city and pray for peace here and around the world.
On Thursday we went back to the time of the Tudors and explored many aspects of Tudor life!
We were amazed when we entered Bramall Manor House because it was huge and very luxurious looking.
We played Tudor instruments, performed a Tudor dance, sketched beautiful decorations from one of the painted rooms, wrote in Tudor cursive script, explored Tudor food and even made our own version of wattle and daub!
It really helped us imagine what life was like and we thoroughly enjoyed all of the amazing workshops!
Check out the photographs to find out more!
We all had an amazing musical afternoon with our families raising money for CAFOD this afternoon!
We sang our hearts out and danced our socks off!
We have some very talented singers in Year Four...X-Factor watch this space!
Thank you so much for all the support our Year Four parents have shown by participating in the singing and also sponsoring their child!
We will inform you of how much has been made in total once all the sponsorship money has been collected and counted!
We hope the photographs below capture all the musical fun we had!
This week we have started our Twelfth Night journey!
The children have explored the setting: Illyria and created a 3D map using props and their imaginations!
We have delved deeper into one of the main characters Viola, who has been washed upon the shores of Illyria.
The children have written wonderful setting descriptions and excellent diary entries in role as Viola.
We can't wait to meet more of Shakespeare's characters next week!
