The children were posed the question above. So they set about carrying out an experiment using, water, food colouring and sugar. They weighed their containers so when they weigh them again over the next two days they will know how much water has evaporated and predict how long it will take to recover the sugar.
Today -in the first week of Advent- we celebrated the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle, patron of Scotland. St. Andrew was a brother of St. Peter and he was a fisherman. He introduced Peter to Jesus. He became one of the first to follow Christ. Our mass today celebrated the love and faith we receive by following our Lord. Year 5 led the mass beautifully.
Today the children had an art and drama specialist visit us from Z-Arts. We created an Iron Man face using recycled materials, buttons and glitter. The drama workshop was held in the Dream Zone and we played lots of games such as, 'what are you doing?', 3D statues, 10 steps and hitchhiking, activities all linked to the characters in the Iron Man. We all had a great day!
Today we had a visit from a volunteer from Cornerstone as part of our RE topic and our mission. We learnt so much about how they help the community and the difference this makes to homeless peoples lives. She told us they have approximately 150-200 people who visit them daily. They cook around 80 meals a day. The charity has 80 volunteers and 30 people who work there. The charity relies heavily on donations. The volunteers give homeless people food, clothes, medical care, teach refugees English and provide lots and lots of love!
