Another fantastic week of hard work in Y6FW. This week we have completed some fantastic informative work surrounding black history month. The children have created fact files about William Wilberforce, an English member of Parliament who worked hard to abolish slavery in the UK.  Have a look at some of our fantastic work below.

In Y6FW, we are scientists! This week, we have been conducting science experiments for our topic ‘Electricity’.  We devised an experiment to find out if a number of batteries in a circuit  would make a bulb brighter our not. Our conclusion..... it’s most certainly did! Check out the pictures below from our experiment.

Wow - a busy week in Y6FW!

We’ve finished our ‘Loving’ topic in RE and have spent lots of time discussing people who show us unconditional love and how we show it back in return. In English, we’ve written an informal letter based on our current class novel, Stormbreaker. But our favourite lessons this week has to be maths! We have excelled in our fractions work and really enjoyed the practical aspects of the unit. Here’s some pictures...

In Y6FW this week, we have been learning about OS Maps. The children have learnt the cardinal (North, East, South and West) and inter-cardinal (North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West) compass points. We then moved on to map symbols which we designed some fantastic posters for!

We've been doing lots of research about face masks, their need to be used in our world at the moment and how they are made. We sent home questionnaires which we designed in our computing lessons, to find out more about what people at home liked and disliked about them. The information we found was very interesting and will help us to design our very own face masks which we will make over the coming weeks - watch this space...

As you might know, St. Kentigern’s is linked with Loreto High School. Each year,
Mrs Hughes (Headteacher) visits school with some of our past pupils, to show our
current pupils all her school has to offer. This year this has not been possible, so a
video link has been sent for you to view with your children instead:
