Liturgical Year

As an integral part of our Catholic ethos, all pupils are made aware throughout the school year, of the changes and celebrations relating to the Church's Liturgical Year. These events are highlighted in our sacred space in our assembly hall and in every classroom’s personal sacred space. The children are aware of the liturgical changes with the changing colours of our prayer table cloths and displays.

We remember Our Lady during May and October.

To further complement the work of the class teacher in the delivery of the ‘Come and See ' programme from nursery to Year 6, the children enjoy weekly school assemblies:

KS1 and KS2 Wednesday Word assembly - Wednesday 9:00am

EYFS celebration assembly - Friday 2:30pm

 KS1 celebration assembly - Thursday 9.15am
 KS2 celebration assembly - Friday 2.30pm

These assemblies are often pupil led and are further complemented by the pupils' prayer service to which parents, families, friends, governors and our parish priest are invited to attend. These are usually as follows:

Our  Parish Priest makes frequent visits to the classes in preparation for the sacraments of First Forgiveness and First Communion in Year 3.

The older pupils plan and participate in their own class prayer services and collective worship sessions. Each KS2 class has a class mass each half term which children, parents, staff and parishioners come together in Church to worship together in a pupil-led service.

Class masses are  celebrated on a  selected  Wednesday  each half term at our Parish Church - St Kentigern's.
