St Kentigern's

R.C Primary School

Music

School is committed to a high quality provision of Music which sees a specialist
music teacher leading music sessions throughout school. All the children fully

participate in these lively musical experiences.

St Kentigern’s pride themselves on excellent musical performances, which in the
past has featured Year 6 performing ‘The Lion King’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz’.  Our
Nativity performances showcase both our faith and creative talents. Key Stage Two
perform ‘Resurrection Rock’ at Easter, and Key Stage One perform a Palm Sunday
assembly with singing and role play.  The children thoroughly loved the rehearsal
process leading to live performances.  Excellent reviews were made by the audience

and such events are always a sell out!

We have an excellent choir who enjoy selecting songs to perform to a range of

audiences.  They have performed at The Hidden Gem Church in Manchester at The
Manchester Evening News Arena with thousands of other school choir members as
part of ‘The Young Voices’ choir.  The choir perform with other local schools in a

wide range of musical events.

Cross-curricular links are made to music whereby learners consolidate their learning
by singing topic based songs which feature in some excellent class assemblies.  We
sing songs daily in our collective worship assemblies and believe it is an act of

prayer bringing us closer to God.

Our annual ‘St Kent’s Go Talent’ show always showcases excellent singing, as well

as dance acts!  Previous winners are tough acts to follow!

Our music appreciation sessions feature music genres from different cultures, artists

of BAME, history and musical styles!
