Remote Learning Statement
At St. Kentigern's, we are committed to ensuring that every child—including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)—can access high‑quality learning whether they are in school or learning from home. Our remote learning provision is designed to be inclusive, supportive, and adaptable, enabling all pupils to make progress and feel connected to their school community. For those families that do not have access to a devise or Wi-Fi, hard copies will be provided.
Our Approach to Remote Learning
We use Microsoft 365 Education as our core platform for remote learning, enabling pupils and teachers to stay connected, collaborate, and access learning resources safely and easily. Through Microsoft Teams, children can take part in virtual lessons, receive feedback, access assignments, and communicate with their teachers in a secure online environment.
Pupils and staff with access to Microsoft 365 tools such as OneDrive, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote Class Notebook, allowing learning to take place seamlessly across devices and supporting shared work, creativity, and independent practice.
How We Support Teaching and Learning at Home
- Live and recorded lessons are delivered through Microsoft Teams to support continuity of learning and routine.
- Assignments and resources are shared with pupils through Teams Class pages, enabling teachers to provide timely feedback and monitor progress.
- Collaboration tools such as OneNote Class Notebook help pupils work interactively with their teachers and classmates.
- Cloud‑based access to learning materials ensures pupils can work safely from any device with an internet connection.
Supporting All Learners
We are committed to inclusion and accessibility. Tools such as Microsoft’s Reading Coach, accessibility checker, and personalised learning supports help ensure that every child—regardless of need—can participate fully in remote learning.
Keeping Our School Community Connected
Maintaining strong communication with families is central to our remote learning approach. Teachers and pupils can stay in touch regularly through Teams messages and class announcements, while parents can be kept informed via class updates and communication tools within the Microsoft 365 platform.
Our Commitment
Our remote learning provision is continually reviewed and improved in line with the latest educational developments, including new AI-powered tools in Microsoft 365 designed to enhance lesson preparation and support personalised learning.
We remain dedicated to ensuring that every pupil receives high‑quality teaching, meaningful learning experiences, and emotional support—whether learning takes place at home or in school.
